The 19th Laguna Phuket Triathlon will be held on Sunday 25 November 2012 at Laguna Group Hotel Phuket in Tambon Chueng Talay, Ampur Klang, Phuket Province. This event is held by Laguna Phuket Resort and Hotel Co. Ltd. and the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization. This year’s triathlon is held to encourage sports and activities, as well as to boost tourism and spread Phuket’s image to local and international media outlets around the world.

The Laguna Phuket Triathlon has received much interest and participation from many athletes throughout Asia, especially from Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and even from the USA. The competition is divided as following: swimming 1200 meters in the Andaman Sea, then running 100 meters from the sea down to a lake and swimming 600 meters in the lake, followed by bicycling 55 kilometers throughout the central districts of Phuket, and ending with running 12 kilometers in the the Laguna project area. There is also an additional 6 kilometer fun run, as well as team sports, in which 50 teams are scheduled to participate in this year’s games.

You are all invited to the annual Lent and Vegetarian Festival in Phuket, held from 15 October 2012 – 23 October 2012! Aside from observing the Buddhist precepts, eating yummy vegetarian food, watching the Buddhist parade and other Thai rituals, and attending the daily soul cleansing ceremonies in shrines all over Phuket Island, you can also increase your prestige by writing your name in Chinese letters on a sacred grain of rice at Jao Puh Jor Shrine (Guan Yin Shrine), which is considered among the local people as a very holy and worshiped shrine in Phuket.
